NanoEner develops and markets nanomaterials and related nanotechnology processes that enable innovation in performance and efficiency across a wide-variety of structures from raw materials and nano powders to ultra-thin film coatings.
Building at the nano-scale allows for the creation of new materials, which are expected to impact several industries including: Materials, Chemicals, Biotech, Computers, Semiconductors and Defense. The National Science Foundations estimates a $1 trillion impact over the next 10-15 years.
NanoEner has a proprietary Vapor Deposition Solidification (VDS) process and equipment that allows the low cost, high speed manufacture of materials at the nanoscale. Through a series of licensing arrangments, EnerDel and EnerStruct are using this technology to develop high-powered batteries.
VDS is a vacuum process of non-equilibrium condensation from a vapor to liquid phase that is then cooled to form a solid thin film layer which has a high degree of uniformity with respect to chemical composition, structure and thickness. VDS technology is able to build layer-by-layer to produce nanostructure films with varying thickness. In addition to primary and rechargeable batteries, other applications for NanoEner's nanotechnology include super capacitors, electronic devices, wires, sensors and fuel cell membranes.
