Richard L. Stanley
President, EnerDel, Inc.

Richard L. Stanley is a proven leader with 30 years global manufacturing and management experience and a distinguished record of creating new business lines. Previously, Rick served as President of Remy, Inc., the largest division of Remy International, where he oversaw organic growth, new customer development and corporate acquisitions. At Remy, Rick also gained experience in emerging markets and technologies working in the field of hybrid vehicle supply and has spent the past two years at ATC Technology Corporation, as President of their Drivetrain arm.

Prior to serving as President, Rick was Vice President and General Manager of Automotive Systems at Remy International. Rick holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University.

Naoki Ota
Chief Operating Officer

Naoki Ota has more than 18 years of management, technical, operations, and marketing experience in lithium-ion battery production and related industries. He also currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Ener1, Inc. Most recently, Naoki was Senior Manager of Technology Marketing for Hitachi Chemical Research Center, Inc. Before his tenure at Hitachi, he spent eight years gaining in-depth lithium-ion business experience at Quallion, LLC, a manufacturer of batteries for medical implants and aerospace applications. At Quallion, Naoki held senior management positions in Advanced Material Resources, Application Engineering and Marketing and Strategic Planning. He has also served as a consultant, sourcing advanced materials for ithium-ion batteries and other electrochemical devices. Naoki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry from Osaka Prefecture University in Japan.

Robert Kamischke
Chief Financial Officer and Controller

Robert Kamischke brings a breadth of experience in automotive from his 30 years at General Motors, where he was responsible for all finance activities at the Pontiac, MI, full-size truck assembly plant, a role for which he received the Chairman's Honors in 2005. His range of experience at the senior management level at General Motors includes the financial and strategic planning of Delco Propulsion Systems, a start-up joint venture company established by GMC to market electric and hybrid vehicle propulsion and energy storage systems. Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Northern Michigan University and an MS in Manufacturing from Kettering University.

Cyrus Ashtiani
Chief Technology Officer

Cyrus Ashtiani has more than 20 years of technical engineering experience, including 13 years devoted to work within the field of advanced battery systems. During this time, he acquired 11 patents, eight of which are associated with battery systems. Before joining EnerDel, Cyrus was the Chairman and Technical Fellow of the USABC Technical Committee, where he represented Chrysler’s Hybrid Powertrain Center. Prior to that, he spent 12 years with DaimlerChrysler, developing the first lithium-ion battery systems for hybrid electric vehicles. He began his career as a senior development engineer at Sunstrand Corporation, an Illinois-based firm. Cyrus received his PhD in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Electric Machines and Power Systems from McGill University.

Bob Lawson
Vice President, Business Development

Robert (Bob) has 36 years experience in the automotive industry and has 17 years of experience as the senior executive negotiator for Remy with global Original Equipment Manufacturers. From 2002 to 2006 he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the automotive division of Remy and was responsible for manufacturing operations in the US, China, Korea, Poland, Brazil, and Mexico. Before that, Mr. Lawson led sales and marketing strategies for Remy's automotive and heavy duty Original Equipment divisions. During that time he won key contracts for a next-generation hybrid drive systems. Mr. Lawson began his career with General Motor's former Delco Remy Division in 1973, and retired from Remy International in 2007. For the past two years he has had a successful independent automotive consulting business. A native of Anderson, Indiana, Mr. Lawson attended Purdue University where he received a MS from the College of Technology and a BS for the Krannert School of Management.

Derrick Buck
Director, Battery System Integration

Derrick Buck has more than 20 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, with the past five years focused solely on the development of lithium batteries and manufacturing methods. Previously, Derrick served with Delphi Corporation, where he was responsible for product development and the integration of lean assembly of cells and high volume manufacturing systems. He also coordinated the timely installation and successful launch of numerous new product manufacturing start-ups. Derrick has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University.

Kammy Dawson
Director, Human Resources

Kammy Dawson has more than 20 years of experience in human resources, training and communication. Prior to joining EnerDel in 2006, Kammy worked with Citizens Energy Group, Remy International and Anderson University. She holds Bachelor's degrees in Management and Economics and an MBA from Anderson University.

David Hahn
Senior Director of Manufacturing

David Hahn comes to EnerDel from the Powertrain Systems division at Delphi Corporation, where he was North American Manager of Supply Quality and Development. David was responsible for Quality, Delivery, and Cost. He is currently responsible for the ramp-up of volume production at EnerDel’s Noblesville, Indiana battery pack assembly facility. David previously served more than two decades with Delco Remy, the heavy-duty electrical systems maker then owned by General Motors. As Plant Operations Manager in charge of OE Generator operations in the Anderson, Indiana manufacturing plant, he oversaw more than 450 employees and a $60 million annual budget. David earned a BME degree from General Motors Institute (now known as Kettering University), in Flint, Michigan.

Sean Hendrix
Director, Program Management and Battery Management Systems Development

Sean Hendrix has more than 12 years of engineering experience, which includes work at Delphi Corporation and Toyota in vehicle electronic systems, including lithium battery controls, safety electronics, and wireless communications. Sean has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

Jim Roman
Director, Business Development

Jim Roman brings more than 19 years of experience in the automotive sector, where he has held senior management positions in both domestic and international assignments. Prior to joining EnerDel, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Continental Plastics, a domestic interior trim supplier headquartered in Michigan, where he was responsible for managing a group of 15 sales professionals targeting US, Korean and Japanese customers. Prior to that, Jim spent 10 years with Meridian Automotive Systems as Director of the International Business Group and Director of Sales at Chrysler. He was responsible for managing a sales group of seven individuals in the US, Japan, and Mexico. In his roles as Sales and Marketing Director and Vice President, he successfully secured major contracts increasing revenue growth, while developing strong customer relationships with leading international and US OEMs. He has also held Director and Senior Account Manager positions with Lear Corporation and Chivas Products. Jim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Employment Relations and Political Science from Michigan State University.

Hannah Smith
Director, Organization Development and Employment

Hannah Smith has more than 20 years of experience with expertise in strategic human resources, including organization development, succession planning, performance management, management development, and hiring. Prior to joining EnerDel, she served as Vice President of Operations for CBS Personnel’s Indiana Region, where she oversaw the start-up and development of its automotive industry businesses. She also worked as a consultant specializing in international organization development and human resources, serving Fortune 500 companies such as Procter & Gamble, Intel, Microsoft and Motorola. Hannah holds an MS from Cornell University with specialization in Organization Development and Research.

Michael A. Smith
Director of Quality

Michael Smith has more than 27 years of experience in manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and customer service management within the automotive industry. He is currently responsible for the ramp-up of volume production at the Indianapolis cell manufacturing facility as well as the development and certification of the quality management system. Prior to joining EnerDel, Michael served as the Director of Operations at ELSA, LLC, a tier one automotive manufacturer. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years with Alpine Electronics Manufacturing of America, where he served in a variety of roles, including senior operations and quality assurance management positions as one of the initial staff members of the company. He has a proven track record of productivity, quality, delivery, and cost improvements with a focus on lean manufacturing methods. Michael is a certified ISO/TS 16949 Lead Auditor and has previously implemented TS16949, QS-9000, and ISO 9002-certified quality systems. Michael holds a BS in Management Degree focusing on Industrial Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, along with an Associate's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology.

Hiroyuki Yumoto
Director of Cell Development

Hiroyuki Yumoto leads all of EnerDel’s lithium-ion cell activities. He has more than 11 years of experience in the development of materials and cell design for lithium-ion and other battery chemistries. Most recently, Hiroyuki was Manager of Research & Development at Quallion, LLC for six years. He started his career with Japan Storage Battery, one of the leading battery companies in Japan. He has experience developing materials for both primary and secondary lithium-ion batteries, including positive and negative materials, electrolytes, and separators. In addition, his background and expertise covers design of both primary and secondary lithium-ion batteries for various applications, such as medical devices, HEVs, and cell phones, as well as for aerospace and military applications. Hiroyuki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry and an MS in Polymer Chemistry from Kyoto University.
